Match Report - 15 Sep 2012, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor drew with Waverley
A closely fought contest between Harris and Waverley ended in a 2-2 draw.
Not even 30 seconds were on the clock before Harris had to ring the changes after Jimi injured his back. A quick reshuffle and Harris were ready to go. A few misplaced passes made the start of the game difficult for Harris. Neil Martin made a good rundown the left to create a great chance for Harris and the end result was a penalty. The only outcome of the penalty being that Greg Whittet won't be given the responsibility for a while as the ball sailed wide of the post!Penalty competition to be held at training soon !
Half time came and the game was tied at 0-0.
Another poor start to the half caused Harris to go down 1-0 to a well worked goal from Waverley. But Harris showed good fighting spirit to comeback and Albert scored from a short corner low into the bottom corner. From then we pushed Waverley and had a few good chances to take the lead. Gavin missing what can only be described as a "sitter" from a well worked short corner , and Albert doing all the hard work to take the ball past the keeper and somehow put the ball past the wrong side of the post! This was to prove costly as Waverley scored a 2nd to make it 2-1. Again though , Harris came back and another short corner goal from Albert evened the game up at 2-2 , and that is how it finished.
Overall, some good hockey played but plenty of things to work on.
A man of the match vote was taken at the end and the winner was Albert- Welldone !
