Match Report

Match Report - 28 Mar 2015, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor beat Highland

The game was played in difficult conditions with a very strong wind blowing down the pitch for the whole game and extra work had to be done to make sure the goals were held secure. Highland playing with the weather conditions in their favour were first to get in a shot at goal but the shot was well saved high to the right. The first short corner of the game after six minutes produced the opening goal for Harris with Albert Rowling drag-flicking the ball to the right of the Highland keeper. Harris then enjoyed a good spell of possession and missed from a short corner in nine minutes. A good passing move involving Albert,Sam and Greg then threatened to increase the Harris lead and another short corner in the 17th minute won by Sam was well saved. A second goal came after 21 minutes with Ami Bhachu providing the assist for Neil Martin to score. The previous three games between Harris and Highland this season have all been close and this one was no different as Highland fought back to reduce the deficit to one by scoring from their first short corner. After 31 minutes the scores were level from another short corner.
Half-Time Highland 2 - 2 Harris
Harris now had the wind in their favour and Ferg Wilson won a short corner after 41 minutes which was again saved by the Highland keeper. It was Highland who went ahead after 46 minutes but after this the game changed again with Harris exerting more pressure. Neil passed to Ferg who had his shot well saved and then following a Harris short corner which broke down Ferg Wilson crossed to the far post for Gavin Martin to get the equaliser. Two minutes later and Harris were ahead when Neil picked out Albert with a square pass and he drove right before hitting a powerful shot wide of the keeper. It was then Highland's turn to fight back and they equalised in the 63rd minute. With two minutes to go Albert drove along the baseline on the right and cut back to Greg Whittet who placed the ball wide of the keeper to secure a win for Harris and clinch the 3rd division league title.
