Match Report - 23 Feb 2019, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor lost to Strathclyde University
Strathclyde opened the scoring after two minutes. Harris had chances to equalise shortly after. In the 6th minute Alfie Ackerley passed to Ferg Wilson but the visiting keeper saved well and a minute later Ferg produced another good save from the keeper. In the 9th minute a long aerial pass from Fraser Allan was missed by the University defence and fell to Grant McInroy who failed to connect with an attempted shot at goal. Strathclyde extended their lead with goals in the 16th and 25th minutes to make it 3-0 at half-time.
Harris started the second half well and forced two short corners in the first two minutes but unfortunately the short corner routine didn't get as far as a shot at goal. Both sides missed from further short corners before a red card for Strathclyde in the 46th minute gave Harris an opportunity to get back into the match but despite the extra numbers it was the University team who increased their lead in the 55th minute. Harris responded and Ferg Wilson set up James Lothian who has his shot saved before another short corner for Harris went high over the goal in the 59th minute. In the 65th minute Harris scored following a rebound from a short corner with James Lothian providing the assist for Ferg Wilson. Despite being a player down it was Strathclyde who finished the game stronger with two goals in the final 4 minutes. Perhaps a squad of 15 players compared to the home side's 12 made a difference towards the end of the game.
