Match Report - 10 Nov 2019, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 3rd Team Outdoor drew with Monarchs III
Home game v Monarch III’s. Sunny and very cold conditions! Harris squad of 15, featuring 9 U16 players (4 of them 12 years old). From observations, the team is really getting good at stringing the passes through the midfield to the forwards. Passing down the side lines was accurate and set up frequent attacks. This was another close and very competitive match, with some very mature performances from Rory L, Jack T, Cameron A and Matthew O. It was quite an experienced Monarchs team, featuring at least one first team player, however our team applied a lot of pressure, encouraged rushed play from our opponents and broke down attacks frequently. Nicholas A played a commanding role in the centre of the midfield, worked tirelessly, was strong on the ball, and distributed passes accurately to teammates. It was during a well-coordinated attack, that the ball broke to Brodie T from a defenders stick, and he reacted quickly to slot the ball into the corner for Harris to lead 1:0. Monarchs pressed hard thereafter, and won a series of short corners, which resulted in an eventual equalizer. Well into the fourth quarter, Harris were camped out in and around our opponents D. Several times opportunities were created for our attackers, only to be saved by some fine keeping. All the above players, along with our other youngsters – Cameron G, Kyle W, Matthew L, worked confidently, were well mannered and demonstrated good sportsmanship throughout the match. Well done! Thanks to our senior players – Andy T, Tony T, Steven O, Andrew K and Ross McN for all your patient support and on the field encouragement. Final score 1:1.
