Harris Academy F.P. Hockey Club is one of the largest and most established hockey clubs in Dundee. We currently field four outdoor adult teams and five indoor teams ensuring we are represented at every level of Scottish hockey, from National League to the local development league.

Harris Academy F.P. Hockey Club is closely involved with youth hockey, fielding both U/16 and U/18 teams and providing coaching at both primary and secondary school levels. Our club allows young players to develop their skills in a friendly and encouraging environment at a pace which is suited to them and also offers chances to play at the top levels of Scottish hockey.

Riverside Saturday 12th April 2014 
Two goals midway through the first half and two at the the end of the first period gave Wanderers a 4-0 half time lead. Another two goals, one in the middle of the second half and another towards the end of the game gave Wanderers a comfortable 6-0 win to take them through to the quarter final stage of the competition.(match report)

DISC Saturday 5th April 2014 
Madras opened the scoring in four minutes but Hamish Galt equalised from a short corner ten minutes later. Three goals just before half time, two to Madras and one to Harris from Anthony Mudie made it 3-2 to Madras at half-time. Harris went ahead 4-3 when Hamish and Anthony grabbed another goal each. Ross McNicoll in goal for Harris saved well to keep Harris ahead before Madras got back to 4-4 with twelve minutes left. The Harris winner came when Hamish Galt completed his hat-trick five minutes from time.

In a goalless first half Wanderers squandered several good opportunities from open play and in reply Harris came closest from two short corners. Wanderers took the lead from a short corner in the second half but almost immediately Craig Soutar equalised for Harris when he collected a pass from Bryle Cadavos and sent the ball past the Wanderers keeper. Both teams had opportunities to win the match before it finished 1-1.

Harris opened the scoring in the second minute through Neil Martin. The University went 2-1 ahead before Albert Rowling equalised from a short corner. The University scored two more goals in the last part of the first half to take a 4-2 half-time lead. Four more goals without reply in the second half gave the University a comfortable 8-2 win and sealed their promotion to Division 2. (match report)

Harris opened the scoring when a Gavin Martin cross was deflected past the Ayr keeper by Neil Martin. Harris scored their second after three short corners in quick succession led to a penalty flick which was converted by Albert Rowling. Both teams had chances in the second half before Harris sealed victory with three goals in the last four minutes of the game. Marc Callaghan grabbed a double and Albert Rowling scored from an overtime short corner. (match report)

Harris went one behind after 15 seconds but worked hard to get back into the match. Greg Whittet eqaulised from a short corner in the 16th minute. Harris led 2-1 at half -time thanks to a Marc Callaghan goal from a Neil Martin cutback in the 26th minute. Although both teams created scoring chances in the second half there were no further goals.  (match report)

 After going three goals behind after twenty minutes Harris pulled two goals back before half-time. In the second half Harris managed to get back on level terms before going behind again 4-3. Harris drew their first match with Grove 2-2 but lost the'golden goal' shoot-out. In their second match Harris again drew 2-2 but won the shoot-out against Baldragon. This left all three teams with the same points so they went into a 'shoot-out' truel. Harris won against Grove but lost in the final to Baldragon to pick up silver medals.

Harris went two up in the first half through two Albert Rowling goals, one from open play and the other from a short corner. Early in the second half Harris went three ahead when Neil Martin picked up a rebound from another short corner from Albert. Greenock pulled a goal back from a short corner before Albert completed the scoring and his hat-trick to make it 4-1 (match report)

Harris S1 -S3, gold medal winners in the outdoor league earlier in the season took part in the finals of the indoor competition at DISC. In the semi-final of the indoor competition at DISC they beat Morgan before going on to lose to Baldragon in the final and take silver medal position.

 DISC Sunday 16th February 2014 

Harris opened brightly and appeared to have taken the lead when Ferg Wilson had the ball in the net following a short corner, but the goal was disallowed. After having the best of the play Harris went behind when Highland scored from a  short corner. Highland extended their lead with a reverse hit shot from the top of the D which went into the roof of the net. In the second half Harris got back into the game when Neil Martin scored from close range and the equaliser from Ferg Wilson came in the last minute of the game.  (match report)

Harris went four ahead after six minutes with goals from Albert Rowling, Greg Whittet and Neil Martin (2). Another five goals in the last six minutes of the first half put Harris ahead 9-0 at half-time. The Harris goals were scored by Finlay Wright, Hamish Galt, Greg Whitett and Albert Rowling (2). Stepps got the score back to 9-2 at the start of the second half before Harris increased their lead to 13-2 midway through the second half with goals from Gavin Martin, Albert Rowling and Greg Whittet (2). Stepps then converted a short corner and penalty flick before Albert finished the scoring his fifth goal in the last minute of the game. (full report)

The win against Monarchs took Harris into a promotion play-off against Uddingston who had beaten them in the earlier league game at Forthbank . Harris took the game to Uddingston at the start of the first half and although the scores were tied 2-2 at half time,Harris were unlucky to have a goal awarded and then disallowed. Uddingston started best in the second half and scored two quick goals. For the next sixteen minutes both sides played well without scoring. Uddingston sealed victory with two goals in the last two minutes of the match as Harris pressed forward taking off Stevie in goal. Harris now play Stepps next weekend in Perth for 3rd and 4th place. (full report)

In a closely contested game Monarchs led 2-1 at half time after Harris had taken the lead in the third minute through Marc Callaghan. Greg Whittet equalised for Harris early in the second half and two goals in a minute from first of all Albert Rowling and then Greg Whittet put Harris into the lead 4-2 with ten minutes to go. A Monarchs goal with six minutes left was quickly cancelled out by a Greg Whittet penalty flick which also completed his hat-trick. (full report)

Harris needed to get back on track after their defeat in the first game against Clydesdale and they managed to do this. After leading 7-1 at half -time they took a 13-2 lead after eight minutes of the second half and went on to win 13-6. In their final game of the day the first half was closely contested, but a goal just before half time for Uddingston gave them a 3-1 lead. Greg Whittet scored the first half goal for Harris from a Finlay Wright assist. In their second game of the day an Albert Rowling double put Harris two up after 3 minutes. By half time Harris had increased their lead to 6-3 with further goals from Marc Callaghan, Albert Rowling and Greg Whittet (2). Seven minutes into the second half Marc Callaghan scored to put Harris 7-3 ahead. Clydesdale pressure produced two goals but another goal from Marc Callaghan sealed an 8-5 victory for Harris (full report)

In a high scoring game Harris were trailing 7-5 at half-time after leading 5-4 with five minutes of the first half left. Harris went 3-0 down early in their final Midlands indoor league match before two goals from Hamish Galt got them back into the game. Menzieshill extended their lead to 5-2 with eight minutes to go before a hectic end to the game. Two goals from Albert Rowling made it 5-4. Menzieshill scored to make it 6-4 before a short corner from Neil Martin reduced the deficit to one goal again. Another Menzieshill goal was followed immediately by a goal from Greg Whittet and in the last minute Greg hit the post as Harris pressed for an equaliser.(full report)

Harris went two ahead through goals from Jonnie McLeish and Dylan Ackerley. Menzieshill levelled the scores midway through the game before Dylan scored his second to put Harris 3-2 ahead. After an equaliser from Menzieshill, Harris went a player down and lost two quick goals. Back to full strength Anthony Mudie scored to make it 5-4 but there was no further scoring.

In an even first half Greg Whittet scored both Harris goals as the teams turned round at 2-2. A goal apiece at the start of the 2nd half made the score 3-3 with Neil Martin scoring for Harris. Three goals in three minutes midway through the second half sealed victory for Harris with Greg Whittet scoring twice and Gavin Martin getting the other. Harris went two behind early on before Greg Whittet pulled back a goal. Another GM goal and a second from Greg made it 3-2 at half time. An early second half goal from Marc Callaghan and a penalty for GM made it 4-3 before Greg completed his hat-trick after a great solo run to tie the scores at 4-4. A goal from Gavin Martin and a second from Marc Callaghan after a one-two with Finlay Wright put Harris 6-4 ahead. GM got back a goal before the final whistle. (full report)

Harris went ahead after 9 minutes when Marc Callaghan opened the scoring. After Harris went a player down Monarchs scored two quick goals to make it 2-1 at half-time. Harris went 3-1 up after a good passing move led to Greg Whittet sweeping the ball into the roof of the net. Waverley came back into the game and scored from a short corner to make it 4-1 at half time. Harris 2nds won the Midland Indoor Division 2 title although they were not involved in any of the games on Thursday at DISC. Wanderers 3rds failed to win by the 25 goals which would have seen them pull ahead of Harris on goal difference. The Harris team will now play in Midlands Division 1 next season.

Harris struggled to get their passing game going at the start of this match and fell behind to a short corner goal. Albert Rowling converted a penalty shortly before half-time after Neil Martin was upended by the Giffnock keeper. Twenty minutes into the second half and Harris were 4-1 down. Harris then applied pressure and a short corner goal from Gavin Martin and a neat deflected goal from Ferg Wilson got Harris back to 4-3. Despite a lot of late pressure Harris could not get the equaliser.(full report)

On Thursday at the Douglas Sports Centre Harris 2nds all but secured the 2nd Division title with a 7-1 win over Wanderers 3rds their main rivals. Only a win for  Wanderers 3rds in the last game in Division 2 next week over Perthshire 1sts by a margin of 25 goals can deprive Harris 2nd of the title and promotion. Both teams had opportunities to go ahead but at half-time it remained 0-0. Harris scored three minutes into the second half through a good individual effort from Ferg Wilson. Marc Callaghan increased the Harris lead after he picked up a rebound from a Euan Simpson short corner. Harris started well and opened the scoring through Neil Martin from an Albert Rowling cross. The University hit back and scored twice before half-time. Harris started the second half well and goals from Neil Martin and Albert Rowling in the first eight minutes put them 3-2 ahead . There were chances at both ends before Harris sealed victory when Neil Martin completed his hat-trick to make it 4-2 (full report)

Harris started poorly going 3-0 down. A Steven Moir goal before half time got Harris back into the game. Harris dominated the 2nd half but it was Ayr who scored on the counter attack to make it 4-1. With much of the game now being played inside the Ayr 25 Harris finally got back through goals from Ferg Wilson and Greg Whittet. The game finished with a short corner to Harris but as on several occasions earlier the Ayr keeper saved well.(full report)

A good start by Harris saw Neil Martin open the scoring from an Albert Rowling pass. Midway through the first half Strathclyde equalised but Albert Rowling put Harris ahead again a minute later with a great solo goal. Five minutes later the scores were level again and it remained 2-2 at half time. A short corner early in the second half from Albert put Harris ahead but Strathclyde equalised 12 minutes from the end. With 5 minutes left Albert completed his hat-trick and there was no futher scoring.(full report)

Ferg Wilson equalised for Harris after an early goal for Highland
and it stayed 1-1 at half-time. Highland scored early in the second half but Harris got level quickly with a goal from Greg Whittet. An Albert Rowling double put Harris ahead 4-2 midway into the second half and although Highland got back to 4-3 with 10 minutes left, Harris finished well to win the match. (match report)

After a goalless first half it was Aberdeen University who took the lead midway into the second half. Harris pressed for an equaliser and had opportunities from corners and open play to get back on level terms but five minutes from time it was the students who got their second goal. Harris drew their third game in a row in National Division 3. Perthshire scored midway through the first half but Ferg Wilson equalised to make it 1-1 at half time. In the second half Perth took the lead again but constant Harris pressure produced an equalisier 6 minutes from time when Neil Martin deflected an Albert Rowling short corner high into the net.

Ryan Watson and Ross Turbet gave Harris  a two goal lead but St Andrews scored just before half time to make it 2-1. Harris 2s kept their 100% record in Midlands Division 1 with a win against Monarchs 2s. Despite constant pressure Harris only led 1-0 at half-time through a Ryan'Bull' Watson' goal. In the 2nd half Harris converted more of their chances and further goals came through Craig Towns, Sam Owen-Hughes, Ross Turbet and Marc Callaghan. (full report)

Albert Rowling opened the scoring for Harris from a short corner. Waverley scored twice to go ahead 2-1 at half-time. Any ideas of a fightback seemed to have gone when Waverley opened the second half with two goals in the first two minutes to go 4-1 ahead. Neil Martin got Harris back into the game from an Albert assist and two short corners from Greg Whittet and Albert made the scores level. Greg scored again to make it 5-4 to Harris and Waverley made it 5-5 five minutes from time. (full report)

In a high scoring National League Division 3 match at DISC, Harris and Giffnock shared the points. A first half hat-trick from Greg Whittet put Harris into a 3-2 lead at half time. Giffnock then fought back to take a 4-3 lead but Albert Rowling levelled the scores with 6 minutes to go and Greg grabbed his fourth goal shortly after to put Harris ahead 5-4. However following a short corner in the last minute Giffnock netted with the last action of the game. (see match report)

Harris Off to a Winning Start in League

Harris 7 - 1 Stirling Wanderers
 
Harris started their National League Division 3 season with a 7-1 win against Stirling Wanderers at DISC. Harris led 4-1 at half time with Greg Whittet and Albert Rowling each scoring twice. In the second half Greg and Albert both completed their hat-tricks and Steven Moir finished the scoring to make it 7-1 to Harris. (see match report)

Harris Youth Coaching
Youth coaching at Riverside started on Wednesday 28th August 5.30pm to 7pm and this continues for the next nine Wednesdays before changing to indoor. The coaching sessions are open to boys and girls from primary and secondary. 

S4-S6 School League
Thursday 29th August was the start of the 7-a-side league for S4-S6 at DISC and Harris started with three defeats and a win. The Harris team played well but were slightly handicapped by having to play without a goalkeeper. Team:- Michael Devlin, Jack Torano, Callum Ellis, Alix Finlayson, Jack Dyer, Anthony Mudie and  Sam Owen-Hughes.

 
   
 
 
 

Harris and Monarchs Share 12 Goals
Saturday 17th August
The first game of the new season, a friendly against Monarchs at Riverside, finished 6-6. Monarchs led 3-2 at half-time with goals scored at regular intervals during the first half. The pattern continued into the second half and with minutes to go Harris were leading 6-5 but Monarchs scored to make it 6-6 with virtually the last attack of the game. Outdoor training takes place every Thursday at DISC from 8.30 pm to 10pm....

Junior Outdoor Coaching on Wednesdays at Riverside 5.30 pm to 7 pm

There will be another four junior coaching sessions at Riverside on 16th April, 23rd April, 30th April and 7th May from 5.30pm to 7pm.....
