Harris went through to Glasgow to play second from bottom Glasgow University with several regular first team players unavailable. The home side dominated possession at the start and took the lead after five minutes. By half-time GU were three ahead. Harris made a better start to the second half but after missing a couple of opportunities it was Glasgow who increased there lead with two quick goals. Harris never recovered from this and lost goals steadily with three coming in the last five minutes of play.

Active Schools Tayside Under 15 Cup
Thursday 12th May 2016 at DISC

Six teams took part in the annual Tayside under 15 hockey cup finals at DISC on Thursday. Harris,Grove, Perth Academy, Perth HS, Blairgowrie and Montrose all qualified from their district events. Harris Academy oipened with a 0-0 draw against Blairgowrie and defeated holders Perth HS 8-0 to win their group. The final against Grove produced some good hockey and just when it looked like the game was heading for a 0-0 draw Bella Ackerley scored the winning goal for Harris two minutes from time.

Blackness Win Primary Schools Cup
Wednesday 11th May 2016 at DISC
Seven teams competed in the Tayside and Fife festival organised jointly by Leisure and Culture Dundee and Scottish Hockey. Blackness were undefeated with 22 points out of 24 available, finishing ahead of Barnhill, Dundee Wanderers, Blairgowrie, Craigiebarns, Torbain and Anstruther.

Greg Whittet put Harris ahead in the first half but St Andrews University equalised before half-time. A short corner goal put St Andrews University ahead before Greg Whittet grabbed his second of the game to bring the scores level. A back post deflection put the students ahead before Harris equalised from an Albert Rowling penalty two minutes from time. (match report)

Harris 3- 8 Watsonians

Saturday 5th March 2016 at DISC
Watsonians went ahead in the 10th minute but Harris quickly got back on level terms when Ethan Drew sent the ball through to Greg Whittet who timed his run well to meet the pass, take the ball into the D and slip it wide of the keeper. Watsonians went ahead in the 23rd minute and a good save by Duncan McNicoll in goal just before half time kept the Watsonians lead to one. A short corner in the second of the second half put Watsonians 3-1 ahead but Harris responded quickly when Gavin Martin beat two players in midfield before picking out Albert Rowling who scored with a reverse hit shot. Watsonians extended their lead to 5-2 with goals in the 42nd and 55th minute. From a long corner Cameron Conway made a late run from the back and sent the ball to Albert Rowling who finished off the set piece to bring Harris back into the game with thirteen minutes still to play. Watsonians however finished strongly and goals in the 62nd,  64th and 68th minutes gave them an 8-3 win. (match report)

Harris had a two goal lead at half-time thanks to goals from  Jack Dyer and  Dylan Ackerley. The studentteam fought back in the second half and took a 3-2 lead before Grant Robertson grabbed the equaliser for Harris.

Perthshire took the lead before goals from Shaun Ellis and Dylan Ackerley gave Harris a 2-1 lead. Perth edged ahead again and it took two goals from Anthony Mudie to give Harris the win.

The second Midlands Youth tournaments was held at the Lynch Centre on Sunday. The Harris 10 and under team played games against Carnegie, Wanderers, JHA Strikers and Perthshire. Playing for Harris were:- Bethan Thompson, Hannah Hegarty, Elsa Snowden, Luke Soutar, Ryan Hegarty, Sohal Shahbaz and Sol Archibald.

In the next set of games Harris 12 and unders played against Grove Menzieshill, Carnegie, Wanderers and Blairgowrie winning all their games. Harris team:- Robbie Somerville, Sean Hegarty, Fraser Allan, Ewan Muirhead, Alfie Ackerley, Nicholas Auld, Bryce Affleck, Matthew Allan and Jamie Cruickshank.

Stepps 5- 1 Harris

Sunday 21st February 2016 at Titwood
Harris opened the scoring in 11 minutes after good work from Steven Moir and Pete Black led to a reverse stick goal from Albert Rowling. Four minutes later Stepps were level. Harris then had several good chances to regain the lead but it was Stepps who scored in the 24th minute from a short corner and then extended their lead two minutes before half-time. Harris tried to get back into the game and pressed forward but failed to score from four short corners in the first twenty minutes of the second half. Stepps sealed the game with a goal in the 59th minute and made it 5-1 with a couple of minutes remaining.(match report)

Harris started well and Greg Whittet won a corner after five minutes which Albert Rowling sent wide. Harris opened the scoring when Ferg Wilson provided the assist for Albert Rowling. With two minutes of the second half remaining Steven Moir set up Albert Rowling for his second goal. In the last minute of the half Greg Whittet set up Ferg Wilson with a tap-in but the half time whistle went just as Ferg was applying the finish. There were no further goals in the second half although Harris came close when Andrew Kernohan had his shot blocked well by the Greenock goalkeeper after Finlay Wright provided the cutback from the baseline.

Harris put in a good performance from Harris and deserved to take something from the game. Kevin Ancellscored both Harris goals.

In their last game Harris went down to Perthshire III s the league winners but missed some opportunities to make the scoreline closer. Goalscorers for Harris were Duncan McNicoll and Finlay Wright.

Wins against Baldragon  2-0 and Braeview 1-0 and a 0-0 draw with Grove left Harris unbeaten but only in silver medal position on goal difference. Harris team:- Ross McNicoll, Shaun Ellis, Ben Graham, Bella Ackerley, Jay Smith, Cameron Bell, Jack Renton and Lucas Mahoney.

Harris got off to the perfect start when they opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. Gav Martin drove down the right and slipped the ball to Albert Rowling who sent the ball into the corner of the net for the only goal of the first half. In the first minute of the second half Edinburgh equalised but Harris quickly responded with a short corner goal from Albert Rowling. Three minutes later Harris nearly extended their lead but Gav Martin reverse flicked over the keeper and over the bar. Short corners in the 28th and 30th minutes were both converted by the university team to put them into the lead for the first time. With three minutes to go Harris equalised when Greg Whittet won the ball and passed to Albert Rowling and he completed his hat-trick. A minute later Harris missed from a short corner and in the last minute thought they had sealed the game when Ethan Drew squared to Greg Whittet who deflected the ball into the goal. The goal however was disallowed. Harris then lost the shoot-out 2-0 and will now play in NL Div 3 next season.

Saturday 16th January 2016 at DISC
Perthshire took the lead with goals in the 11th and 12th minutes. Finlay Wright won a penalty in the 14th minute and Albert Rowling scored from the flick. In the 17th minute Perthshire restored their two goal lead but a great finish to the first half saw Harris score from an Albert Rowling corner in the 18th minute and anIain Mitchell goal with 10 seconds of the half left.
Perthshire went ahead with goals in the 25th and 26th minutes but Harris responded with a short corner goal from Albert Rowling in the 28th minute. Perthshire extended their lead to 7-4 with goals in the 34th and 36th minutes. In the 37th minute Ethan Drew won a penalty with the Perthshire keeper also getting yellow carded,
 Albert Rowling scored from the flick and using six outfield players Harris pressed Perthshire but missed from a short corner which would have made it 7-6. Perthshire hit back on the counter attack and scored to seal the game.(match report)


Harris  5 - 6 Watsonians

Harris were two down after four minutes. Harris missed from three short corners minutes before Watsonians extended their lead in the 14th minute. Harris scored from their fourth short corner through
  Albert Rowling but Watsonians scored again before half-time to restore their lead to 4-1.

Three minutes into the second half Albert Rowling got his second. goal of the game and a short corner in the 26th minute was converted by Albert Rowling to complete his hat-trick. Watsonians moved three ahead with goals in the 30th and 31st minutes, before another short corner from Albert Rowling made it 6-4 . A red card for Watsonians with two minutes to go was followed by a goal from Finlay Wright to reduce the deficit to one.  Harris missed the chance to equalise from an overtime short corner. Magnificent Seven for Albert Rowling
A tremendous start to this game saw Harris go three ahead in the first three minutes thanks to a hat-trickfrom Albert Rowling. Carnegie were back in the match a minute later from a short corner. Gav Martinrestored a three goal lead for Harris midway through the first half and Carnegie pulled back a goal before half-time. A penalty flick to Carnegie at the start of the second half made it 5-4 but Albert Rowling kept Harris two ahead with his fourth goal of the game.Another penalty flick and and a goal from open play brought Carnegie level with nine minutes left to play.Two goals in two minutes from Albert Rowling seemed to seal the game with only four minutes left but Carnegie scored immediately after to get it back to 7-6. Straight from the centre Greg Whittet ran through the Carnegie defence to score a great solo goal and there was still time for Albert Rowling to score his seventh of the game, a record for a Harris player indoors.(match report)

Harris started poorly and went three goals down after nine minutesHarris had opportunities to score themselves but some good goalkeeping combined with poor finishing meant that they couldn't get back into the game. Falkirk scored another from a short corner before half-time. A short corner goal from Albert Rowling early in the second half gave Harris some hope of a recovery and shortly after Duncan McNicoll in the Harris goal saved well from a Falkirk corner. A Falkirk goal 7 minutes into the second half was matched by a short corner goal from Albert Rowling two minutes later. Falkirk sealed the game with two goals in the 11th and 13th minutes of the second half. Albert Rowling scored another corner to complete his hat-trickand Falkirk grabbed another before the end.(match report)

Although Harris won this open attacking game by the odd goal in fifteen they conceded the game 10-0 prior to the start as Niall McKay had to come into the side from Harris 2s to make up the Harris six. 
Harris opened the scoring through Albert Rowling in the 5th minute but this was followed by three goals in three minutes by GM. A short corner goal from Albert Rowling a minute later was countered by a GM short corner. Niall McKay scored from an Albert Rowling assist making it 4-3 to GM midway through the game. Harris leveled the scores when Iain Mitchell scored from a corner. Albert Rowling put Harris ahead with seven minutes to go but three goals in three minutes had GM ahead again 7-5. Harris put in a great finish and goals from Albert Rowling and Niall McKay (2) gave Harris an 8-7 victory.

Saturday 28th November at Kilgraston
Perthshire started best and scored after four minutes. Harris came close from a deflection  by Greg Whittet but the home side took a decisive lead  with two goals in two minutes midway through the first half. Harris got back into the game just before half-time when an aerial ball from Albert Rowling caught out the home defence and Jack Dyer controlled the ball and beat the keeper. Harris couldn't build on this and fell further behind in the second half to goals in the 47th and 56th minutes. A second goal by Jack Dyer from an Albert Rowling assist and a short corner two minutes later from Albert Rowling gave Harris some hope with ten minutes remaining but there was no further scoring  (match report)

Two goal in two minutes from Jonnie McLeish and Finlay Wright put the first team 6-0 ahead. In a goalless first half the nearest to a goal came from a Steven Rae shot which went over the bar and three short corners for GCW. Harris took the lead in the 42nd minute when an Andrew Kernohan hit into the D was deflected to Jack Dyer who passed to Greg Whittet to open the scoring. In the 50th minute it was all square when Harris lost possession and were outnumbered at the back. Two minutes later an overhead shot put GCW ahead. Harris fought for an equaliser but after they missed a short corner three minutes from time it was GCW who sealed victory with a goal in the last minute. (match report)

Grant McInroy saved a penalty flick in the 4th minute. Harris missed from a short corner in the 8th minute and a minute later Wanderers opened the scoring from their first corner. Harris defended well but with a relatively inexperienced team and only 7 players Wanderers took control in the 2nd half and four goals betwen the 18th and 24th minute gave them a 5-0 victory.

Harris took the lead in the 2nd minute from an Albert Rowling short corner but two minutes later GM levelled.
Harris regained the lead in the 5th minute when Ethan Drew played the ball to Albert Rowling who spun past his marker and played the ball square to Jack Dyer who placed the ball past Stevie McIlravey in the GM goal. Two minutes the scores were level again when GM scored from a penalty and a goal in the 12th minute put them ahead for the first time. Harris fought back and Albert Rowling equalised from a short corner. Two goals in quick succession in the 17th and 18th minutes put GM two ahead and two more before half time put them firmly in control. In the second half Harris continued to work hard but GM scored seven more without reply. (match report)

Sunday 1st November at St Andrews
Harris went behind after four minutes. A short corner for Harris in the 14th minute went wide. The University team extended their lead in the 26th minute and scored again in the 32nd minute to make it 3-0. Harris missed from another short corner just before half time. Second half Harris struggled losing four goals in the first seventeen minutes. They missed a couple of short corner chances but the home team dominated the half and scored another twice before the end.  (match report)

Harris led 6-4 with five minutes to go but Highland levelled the scores to take the game into extra time. Highland then went on to win the penalty shoot out 6-5

Carnegie had the better of the first half but Ally Blair in the Harris goal made some good saves to deny them until three minutes before half time when Carnegie took the lead.
Harris made a better start to the second half and levelled the scores in the 41st minute when Greg Whittet deflected home an Ethan Drew slap into the D. Eight minutes later Harris went ahead with Albert Rowling picking up a pass from Cameron Conway and firing a shot from the top of the D high into the net. Almost immediately Carnegie equalised from a penalty flick. Two minutes later Harris were back in front after Ethan Drew won a short corner andAlbert Rowling converted. A free hit at the top of the D   in the 55th minute led to Harris going two ahead. Gavin Martin played the ball to Albert Rowling who hit a powerful reverse shot into the net to complete his hat-trick. Just before full time Carnegie cut the deficit to one goal when they scored from a short corner. (match report)

Watsonians 5 - 2 Harris

Sunday 25th October at Tipperlin
Harris went ahead after 6 minutes. Greg Whittet won the ball ,ran into the D  and his cross was deflected in by a Watsonians defender. The home team equalised two minutes later then went ahead 2-1 in the 19th minute. Harris were unlucky to be penalised with a short corner award three minutes later which was converted to make it 3-1.  A fourth goal in the 27th minute left Harris with a lot to do. Two minutes into the second half Jack Dyer had the ball in the net for Harris when he picked up a rebound from the keeper. A Harris player rather than the keeper was judged to have lifted the ball and surprisingly the goal was disallowed. In the 43rd minute, Euan Simpson, Finlay Wright and Jack Dyer combined to set up an opportunity for Albert Rowling and the keeper had no chance from his reverse hit shot.Harris came close to scoring again before Watsonians sealed the game with a fifth goal.(match report)

The first of the development tournaments organised for Midlands Division 2 teams took place at Kilgraston on Sunday 4th October. The tournament was well organised and gave some of our young players their first opportunity to play in an eleven a side game.

National Hockey Centre Glasgow

There were very few National League games at the weekend due to the inter district tournaments at Under 16 and Under 18 level. Harris were represented by Gregor Trickett in the Under 16 team and Jack Dyer in the gold medal winning under 18 team. It was a great experience for Gregor and Jack taking part in the tournaments and they both played well over the weekend.

Saturday 12th September at Aberdeen Sports Village
Harris got off to a great start on their return to Division 2 with Ferg Wilson deflecting in a Gav Martin cross to open the scoring in the 3rd minute. Two minutes later the home side equalised with a shot from the top of the D. Harris finished the first half well with Ferg Wilson grabbing his second from a Jack Dyer assist and Steven Moir just failing to get on the end of a Gav Martin cross. GCW equalised after 40 minutes from a penalty flick and then went ahead in the 69th minute. Harris pressed for an equaliser but didn't really create any clear cut chances.(match report)

Dylan Ackerley opened the scoring for Harris after 10 minutes but the game sadly had to be abandoned 12 minutes later when Harris player Marc McNaughton went down with a serious knee injury after slipping awkwardly. He received treatment on the pitch before being taken by ambulance to Ninewells.

Harris 2s made a good start winning their first two games. Dylan Ackerley (2) and Ferg Wilson (2) scored the goals in a 4-0 win against Falkirk. This was followed by a 2-0 win against Kinross with Ferg Wilson and Ben Harper getting the goals. In their third game against the hosts Dunfermline City Harris lost 3-1 with Ben Harpergrabbing the Harris goal. The final game against Wanderers 3s finished level at 1-1 with Dylan Ackerleyscoring for Harris

Jack Dyer put Harris ahead after 4 minutes and Albert Rowling made it two after 10 minutes from a short corner. Duncan McNicoll made a good save from close range to keep Harris two ahead before Jonny McLeish, on his first team debut,drove right before placing the ball into the corner of the goal to make it 3-0 midway into the first half. Ferg Wilson set up opportunities for Albert and Ben Harper before Monarchs scored five minutes before half time. Harris went 4-1 ahead when Albert Rowling grabbed his second when he deflected in an aerial ball from Pete Black. A short corner for Monarchs led to their second goal after 39 minutes and eight minutes later it was 4-3. A short corner from Albert Rowling in the 54th minute to complete his hat-trick and a penalty flick from Euan Simpson a minute later restored a three goal lead for Harris. Harris got off to the best possible start in the final when they were awarded a penalty in the first minute of the match when Dylan Ackerley was brought down by the keeper. Dylan took the penalty himself and scored to put Harris ahead. 

In the 7th minute Harris won another penalty but this time Dylan missed with his flick. Hermitage at this point started to gain more of the possession while Harris looked dangerous on the counter-attck. Hermitage went 2-1 ahead and a goal just before half-time put them two ahead. In the second half Harris couldn't get back into the game and further goals gave Hermitage a 6-1 victory. The Harris team put in a good performance and the S2s and S3s in the team will have gained valuable experience for the future. More pictures

Harris were first to threaten and a good save from the Stepps keeper kept out a short corner attempt from Albert Rowling. The deadlock was broken in the 30th minute when Pete Black crossed into the D and Jonnie McLeish played the ball to Albert Rowling who put Harris ahead. Stepps equalised two minutes later to level the scores at half-time.
In the first minute of the second half Stepps took the lead but Harris responded well with Greg Whittet beating three defenders and then hitting wide of goal. Harris continued to press for an equaliser but missed from three short corners. Stepps took a decisive two goal lead with seven minutes left to play. Greg Whittet cut the deficit to one with three minutes to left but Stepps quickly responded to make it 4-2. (match report)

Harris Player Selected for Scottish Universities

Harris player Ethan Drew who attends Abertay University has been selected to play for Scottish Universities in two games next week against Ireland at Glasgow National Hockey Centre.  This is well deserved recognition for his consistently good performances both for Harris and Abertay.

The Aspire Cup final for under 18 boys will take place at Glasgow National Hockey Centre on Friday 22nd April with a 2.15pm pushback. In the final of this national schools hockey competition organised by Scottish Hockey, Harris Academy will play against Hermitage Academy from Helensburgh.

Harris opened the scoring in the first minute when Pete Black crossed for Greg Whittet to deflect past the home keeper. Harris then forced a series of short corners but failed toincrease their lead. Inverleith equalised in the 19th minute from a short corner and took the lead in the 23rd minute. A short corner in the 32nd minute gave Inverleith a 3-1 half -time lead. Two goals for Inverleith in the first five minutes of the second half, the first from a penalty left Harris struggling to get back into the match and they lost goals at regular intervals during the second half. Carnegie took the lead in the 5th minute and were two up after 8 minutes. Harris missed from a short corner in the 16th minute before Carnegie extended their lead with goals in the 22nd and 24th minutes. In the 26th minute Greg Whittet cut along the baseline before crossing for Albert Rowling to net.Two minutes from half-time Carnegie regained their four goal lead.
Harris started the second half well by scoring from an Albert Rowling short corner after two minutes and then three minutes later Greg Whittet made it 5-3. A short corner goal for Carnegie in the 46th minute dented Harris hopes of a comeback. Carnegie extended their lead in the 60th minute before Harris scored through Ferg Wilson.  Carnegie completed the scoring two minutes from time. (match report)

Harris started well and led 3-0 after 14 minutes thanks to an Albert Rowling hat-trickJonnie McLeishcame close to making it four from a Ferg Wilson assist midway through the first half. With 10 minutes of the first half remaining Falkirk scored to get back into the game but Harris reponded with another Albert Rowling goal to take a three goal lead at half-timeWeather conditions started to deteriorate but Falkirk adapted best at the start of the second half and after 47 minutes they had reduced the Harris lead to 4-3.Two more goals for Harris , the first from Albert Rowling and the second from Greg Whittet sealed the game for Harris. Falkirk scored again with five minutes left to play to make the final score 6-4.

Midlands Youth Tournament

The U14 team played three games on Sunday at DISC. The games had to be rearranged from January 31st due to the large number of teams and players taking part. In January 160 players took part in the U10 and U12 games and on Sunday another 80 players took part in the U14 games. Taking part for Harris were:- Eden West, Jay Smith, Ben Graham, Bella Ackerley, Fraser Allan, Robbie Somerville, Brodie Thompson, Bryce Affleck and Alfie Ackerley. The aim of the tournaments is to get young players playing hockey and enjoying themselves and none of the scores are recorded. The team played well and won all three games with Fraser Allan (2), Alfie Ackerley (2), Bryce Affleck and Bella Ackerley getting the Harris goals.

The first of the new Midlands Youth tournaments was held at Douglas Sports Centre on Sunday. The Harris 10 and under team played games against Grove Menzieshill, Kinross and BlairgowrieThis was the first time our team had played against another side. They played well and enjoyed taking part in the tournament.Playing for Harris were:- Bethan Thompson, Hannah Hegarty, Elsa Snowden, Luke Soutar, Ryan Hegarty and Sol Archibald.

In the next set of games Harris 12 and unders played against Grove Menzieshill, Perth and Madras. The team moved the ball around well and scored some excellent goals. Playing for Harris were:- Robbie Somerville, Sean Hegarty, Fraser Allan, Ewan Muirhead, Alfie Ackerley, Jay Smith and Matthew Allan. 

The youth tournaments will be held monthly and all the games are friendlies with no scores being recorded. The focus is on participation and fun and Sunday was a great start. The next set of games will be for 14 and under at DISC on Sunday 14th February. Harris will be hosting the tournamnet in June at Riverside on Sunday 26th June.

The loser of this game faced automatic relegationIn the first half both teams missed from a couple of short corners each before Harris were awarded a penalty which was sent wide by Greg Whittet. After turning round at 0-0 Stepps scored in the first minute of the 2nd half. Harris equalised from a penalty in the 28th minute with Greg Whittet making no mistake this time with a flick high into the net. The game seemed to be heading to a penalty shoot-out when Stepps were awarded a penalty flick with three minute to go. A great save from Duncan McNicoll in the Harris goal kept Harris in the game and a minute later Albert Rowlingflicked over the Stepps keeper to give Harris a 2-1 victory.(match report)

Harris played some of their best indoor hockey of the season in this match despite going down narrowly. After Hillhead had taken the lead, Greg Whittet in the 14th minute and Albert Rowling from a short corner in the 15th minute gave Harris the lead. Hillhead equalised from a corner in the 19th minute and still had time to score again before half-time. Ethan Drew equalised for Harris at the start of the second half but Hillhead responded quickly to regain their one goal lead. Greg Whittet scored from a short corner to take Harris level and a minute later Ethan Drew put Harris into a 5-4 leadHillhead equalised in the 30th minute and with four minutes to go they went ahead 6-5. Two goals in two minutes brought Monarchs level at 5-5 with ten minutes to play. Harris had to play the last five minutes a player short after Greg Whittet went off injured. Monarchs took the lead 6-5 but with two minutes to go a long ball from Finlay Wright found Gavin Martin who deflected the ball past Fieldy in the Monarchs goal.  (match report)

Harris enjoyed a lot of possession in the first quarter of the game without creating any clear chances. ESM took the lead in the 22nd minute and a couple of good saves from Duncan McNicoll in the Harris goal kept the score to 1-0 at half-time. At the start of the second half ESM were awarded a penalty flick and Duncan in goal made a great diving save. Harris responded and Ferg Wilson equalised in the 45th minute. A great passing move set up Ferg Wilson for his second in the 57th minute and two minutes later he just missed out on a hat-trick when his shot at goal beat the keeper and hit the post.Three minutes from time ESM equalised from a short corner but Harris took all three points when Albert Rowling converted a short corner two minutes from time. Harris got off to a bad start going two goals behind after 13 minutes but pulled a goal back in the 15th minute from an Albert Rowling short corner. Harris pressed for an equlaiser and in the 23rd minute a shot from Albert was deflected and Ferg Wilson reacted well to collect and put the ball into the corner of the net. Four minutes later Harris went into a 3-2 lead when Gavin Martin supplied the assist for Albert Rowling to grab his second of the game. Two minutes before half-time it was all square again at 3-3. The third quarter of the game produced no further goals with neither team producing any clearcut chances. It was the away team that took the lead in the 53rd minute but almost immediately Albert Rowling drove down the right and his cross was deflected into the goal by a defender tracking back. At 4-4 Harris had a couple of chances to grab a winner with Greg Whittet firing over in the 62nd minute and five minutes from time a Harris short corner was saved by the University keeper.

Inverleith took the lead in the 9th minute but Harris equalised a minute later from an Albert Rowling short corner. Ten minutes before half time it was Inverleith who took a 2-1 lead. The away team started best in the second half and a short corner goal in the 39th minute gave them a two goal lead. Harris fought back and in the 49th minute Albert Rowling drove right from a quick free hit and crossed for Greg Whittet who timed his run well and beat the Inverleith keeper from close range. Ten minutes later it was Greg again who had the chance to equalise when Ferg Wilson broke free and crossed but this time Greg just failed to make contact as the ball went across the Inverleith goal.Two minutes later Inverleith sealed the game with a short corner goal. After the success of the first of the quadrangular Midlands tournaments held at Kilgraston the Harris Development Squad were looking forward to three more games at DISC. Unfortunately the weather took its toll and Harris only managed to complete one of their three games. Goals from Anthony Mudie and Dylan Ackerley put Harris two ahead before Wanderers fought back with a goal towards the end of the game with the assist for the Wanderers goal coming from Harris gk Grant McInroy who was drafted into the Wanderers team as a striker at the last minute.

Harris came close to opening the scoring in the first minute when Gavin Martin slid in at the far post to send an Albert Rowling cross just wide of goal. However it was Greenock who took control with goals in the 3rd and 11th minutes and then missed from two short corners just after this. Harris got back into the game in the 20th minute when Albert Rowling drove through the middle and when the ball went to Greg Whittet on the baseline his cross was finished well by Jack Dyer. Harris finished the first half well and Ferg Wilson came close from a Cameron Conway assist. The second half started badly for Harris when a penalty award led to Greenock going ahead 3-1. Two more goals in the next eight minutes left Harris with too much to do. However they did fight back and missed a penalty in the 54 th minute. Some good attacking moves from Harris followed and a short corner was missed. A minute from time a penalty award for Greenock made it 6-1. (match report)

Falkirk took the lead in the 4th minute but Harris equalised in the 11th minute when Albert Rowling provided the assist for Greg Whittet.  Falkirk went 3-1 ahead with goals in the 21st and 27th minute before Harris got back into the game five minutes before half-time when Steven Moir broke through down the right and passed to Ferg Wilson who sent the ball into the corner of the goal. The start of the second half saw Falkirk go 5-2 ahead after 9 minutes before Harris staged a great fightback. First of all Greg Whittet and Ferg Wilsoncombined well to get Ferg his second of the game and then a Cameron Conway hit into the D was deflected to Greg Whittet  and he grabbed his second goal of the game.  It was 5-5 with eight minutes to go when Greg was fouled while shooting at goal and Albert Rowling scored from the penalty flick. Shortly after an aerial ball caught out the Harris defence and led to a penalty which Falkirk converted to go back into the lead. Both teams continued to have chances to score. Harris failed from a short corner, Falkirk hit the post and Albert Rowling narrowly missed when sliding in to meet a Greg Whittet cross. (match report)

The October holiday led to Harris struggling to get together a side for this District Cup game against a strong Watsonians 2s. With no regular keeper available  Andy Thompson did well in goal and the combination of young and older players  in front of him worked hard throughout the game.

Ben Graham in his first game for the 3s played well up front and Anthony Mudie did a power of work in the middle. Mamun Hossein scored both Harris goals and at the back Niall Joss,Gordon Grewar and Andy Thompson had to work hard as Harris had only six players for this game.

Perthshire took the lead after 11 minutes. Against the run of play Harris equalised through Pete Black in the 22nd minute and the same player put Harris ahead before half-time. Harris started the second half well withAlbert Rowling converting a penalty flick after Steven Rae was tripped. Three minutes later it was 4-1 to Harris when Albert Rowling converted a short corner won by Steven Rae. In the 46th minute Andrew Kernohan made it 5-1, driving the ball into the corner of the goal. Perthshire reduced the Harris lead in the 50th minute and there were no more goals until the last minute when Albert Rowling picked up a pass from Greg Whittet, beat two defenders and hit the ball into the corner of the goal to make the final score 6-2 to Harris.(match report)

Harris gained their first league points with a 4-2 win against ESM at DISC. Albert Rowling opened the scoring for Harris in the 18th minute when he deflected in a through ball from Ethan Drew.  Two minutes later Cameron Conway won a penalty which was converted by Euan Simpson. ESM scored from a short corner in the 25th minute and equalised with a reverse hit shot in the 33rd minute to make the scores level at half -time. The first quarter of the second half saw neither keeper tested. Midway through the second half Harris started to press and missed two short corners before an Ethan Drew pass was picked up by Ferg Wilsonwho held off a defender before putting the ball past the ESM keeper. Harris Under 18s Win Schoolsports Cup

Harris were winners of the first school hockey tournament of the season when they won all three games in the round robin tournament at DISC.
In the first game they beat St Pauls' 3-0 before recording a 5-1 win against Grove. In their final match Harris beat Baldragon 3-1. It was very much a team effort but Jack Dyer gets a special mention for his eight goals in the tournament.

Coaching Workshop
Monday 14th September at St Pauls

The Tayside and Fife Coach Education Programme started on Monday 14th September at St Pauls with five of our coaches attended the workshop on 'Understanding Talent'.
The next workshop 'Engaging Games for Children' takes place on Monday 28th September (session 1)
