Match Report - 29 Sep 2012, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 2nd Team Outdoor beat Wanderers IV
A strong second eleven lined up against a ten man Wanderers 4ths and from the outset were on top, with some fluent passing play leading to an early score by Ryan 'Bull' Watson who netted from open play. However a reluctance to pass allied to a strange lethargy saw the half develop into a scrappy affair, although not without further scoring opportunities most of which were spurned by the 'Bull'.
A tactical switch at half time and a Roy Dowie 'hairdryer' saw an invigorated seconds turn out after the half time oranges! Wave upon wave of Harris pressure bore down on the opposition goal but more abject finishing saw the score remain the same for well into the half. Dr Doug settled the fixture and Bull eventually converted to complete the scoring. All the goals came from open play. Particular mention should go to Finlay Wright and Hamish Galt who turned in very mature second half performances along with Sam Owen-Hughes whose pace could be a real threat as the season progresses.
The game also saw the seasonal returns for both Craig Towns and Ethan Drew but as with last season late call offs make Saturday mornings and any reasonable game planning difficult! A big thanks to Lobby for taking the whistle and dealing well with some sniping by the opposition.
