Match Report - 03 Nov 2012, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 2nd Team Outdoor beat Harris III
This was an incredibly open game of hockey and the high score is perhaps more a reflection of both teams defensive frailties as well as the good play that was produced around this!
Once more though the twos free flowing passing game and better use of the ball in the final third proved to be the difference.
An early Bull powerstrike(sclaff) dribbled into the threes net and this was closely followed by an Andy Thompson own goal. This set the tone for the scoring for the game but the hard working threes fought back with a typical Ferg senior penalty corner strike. The seconds then produced a dominant twenty minute spell where they scored a further three without reply before the half was up. Bull, Dr Lowdon and Toonsie inflicting the damage on the opposition.
The second half followed a similar pattern where, although possession was shared equally, better distribution led to the twos extending their lead - Marky Mark McNaughton bagging a hat trick with Toonsi and Sam Owen-Hughes completing the scoring. The threes were not outdone in the scoring stakes in the second half with Daniel McAndrew and Ferg (two) adding late strikes - the final goal a delicate lob from Ferg over the advancing keeper.
On reflection the twos ran out deserved winners but the final score in no way reflected the story of the game where better use of the ball allowed the twos forwards to capitalise on their possession in the D
