Greenock were first on the attack missing a short corner in the second minute. Three minutes later Harris came close to opening the scoring when Neil Martin passed to Albert Rowling and his shot was well saved. Shortly after Greg Whittet beat a couple of defenders and then hit the ball over the bar. In the ninth minute Albert Rowling fired over the bar. In the 15th minute Albert opened the scoring for Harris and eight minutes later he increased the Harris lead from a short corner. In the 29th minute Stevie McIlravey saved well from a Greenock short corner and a minute later it was the Greenock keeper who saved well from a Ferg Wilson deflection. In the 32nd minute a Hamish Galt cross was deflected by Ferg Wilson but again the Greenock keeper saved well. At the other end a Greenock short corner was flicked wide of the goal.

Harris got off to a great start in the second half. From a short corner in the first minute Albert's drag flick was saved and Neil Martin put in the rebound. Three minutes later Marc Callaghan had a good reverse hit shot saved and shortly after a drive and cross by Hamish Galt caused problems for the Greenock defence.Play switched to the other end and Greenock came close from a reverse hit shot before they scored from a short corner 10 minutes into the second half to make it 3-1.In the 20th minute a Greenock short corner was saved by Stevie and the rebound hit over the bar. Three minutes later Harris came close to extending their lead when first of all Pete Black and then Greg Whittet had shots saved at close range before the ball was scrambled away. Harris sealed victory when Albert found Neil in the D and he won a short corner. Albert flicked the ball powerfully into the net to complete his hat-trick.Just before the end the Greenock keeper came out well to save from Greg Whittet.
