Match Report - 15 Mar 2014, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor beat Ayr


Harris exerted early pressure. Ferg Wilson had a shot blocked after four minutes and then the Ayr keeper made good saves from Albert Rowling, Greg Whittet and Neil Martin. Harris got their first short corner in the 10th minute and again the Ayr keeper saved well from Albert. A minute later a cross from Gavin Martin was deflected in by Neil Martin to put Harris into the lead. Neil and Albert both had shots saved before Harris forced three short corners in quick succession. After the first two were saved the third hit a defender on the line and Albert scored from the penalty flick to put Harris two ahead.

Eight minutes into the second half Greg Whittet crossed for Ferg Wilson who collected well and flicked past the keeper but his shot was well saved by an Ayr defender on the line. Greg then went past two defenders but his shot was well saved. Ayr started to get back into the game and half way through the second half they forced their first short corner which Euan Simpson,on the line, deflected for a long corner. Stevie Mcilravey then had to make two good sabves in the 18th and 20th minutes to keep Harris two ahead.Harris replied with a run into the D and shot from Hamish Galt and a good passing move involving Neil Martin, Marc Callaghan and Ferg Wilson which was stopped by a good block from the Ayr captain. With seven minutes to go Stevie again had to be alert to keep out an Ayr shot on goal. At the other end Albert fired in a good cross ball but there were no takers. Just when it looked like there might be no further scoring Harris scored three goals in the last four minutes. First Chico made it 3-0 and then shortly after got his second from a Neil cutback. Greg came close to making it four from and Albert pass before the fourth goal came from an overtime short corner which Albert flicked high into the net.
