Match Report - 22 Mar 2014, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor lost to Dundee University
Harris opened the scoring in the second minute when Albert Rowling found space on the right. A square pass to Marc Callaghan was sent on to Neil Martin who put it past the keeper. Dundee University equalised three minutes later when Jamie Brown dribbled through and beat Stevie in goal. A defensive mistake in the tenth minute allowed the University to take the lead but Harris equalised in the 19th minute from an Albert Rowling short corner. A good move down the right and cutback to the penalty spot put the University back into the lead in the 23rd minute and five minutes later they went 4-2 ahead from a rebound after the first shot was well saved.
A short corner at the start of the second half was flicked high into the net to put the University 5-2 ahead and five minutes later it was 6-2 from a quick free hit. A promising 3 v 1 break for Harris was halted by the umpire as a University player was down injured at the other end of the pitch. Two further goals made the final score 8-2 and gave the University revenge for their earlier defeat at DISC. It was the first time in the league this season where Harris were outplayed and it was a good performance by the University team who deserved their win and promotion to Division 2. Harris will be disappointed with the way they played on the day in what could have been their most important fixture of the season. As it turned out, with Perthshire winning their last game, a win would not have been good enough to give Harris promotion.
