Match Report - 25 Jan 2014, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Indoor beat Gordonians
After the disappointment of the first play-off game the Harris team talk prior to their next game helped to focus the side and it was Harris who opened strongly against Gordonians. After four minutes Harris were 3 goals ahead.The first 2 goals were scored by Greg Whittet both from Neil Martin assists and the third came from a drive down the left from Marc Callaghan who rounded the keeper before scoring. Gordonians pulled back a goal with a long ball through the middle of the Harris defence. Harris responded with two quick goals both scored by Albert Rowling from Gavin Martin assists.Harris went 6-1 ahead after a good passing movement involving Gavin Martin and Neil Martin resulted in Greg Whittet completing his hat-trick 12 minutes into the first half. With a minute to go in the first half Finlay Wright played the ball to Albert Rowling who found Neil Martin and his goal made the half time score 7-1 to Harris. Harris were now playing confidently and the good movement and passing continued into the start of the second half. Neil Martin made it 8-2 after three minutes of the second period shortly followed by a Neil assist for Greg Whitett to get his fourth of the match.It was 10-2 a minute later when a Greg assist set up Marc Callaghan and two minutes later a drive down the right by Gavin Martin and a pass to Albert Rowling had Harris 11-2 ahead. Gavin made it 12-2 from a short corner after eight minutes and a minute later Finlay Wright laid on the pass for Gavin to make it 13-2. Harris missed the chance to go further ahead when Neil Martin hit the post with a penalty flick. Harris scored no further goals in the match but during the last eight minutes of the game the Gordonians keeper made some excellent saves. A penalty flick for Gordonians followed by three more goals from open play in the last five minutes made the final score 13-6 to Harris.
