Match Report - 25 Oct 2014, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor beat Strathclyde University
Holiday and work commitments led to a number of changes in the Harris line up. Harris won the toss and chose to play the first half against a strong breeze at Millerston. Despite a good start to the game Harris went behind after seven minutes from the home team's first short corner. Grant saved the first shot well but the rebound was picked up by a Strathclyde forward who put his team ahead. Five minutes later Harris were level. Craig Edward won a short corner and Albert Rowling sent his flick high past the keeper. Three minutes later Albert was stick tackled as he drove into the D but the Strathclyde keeper saved well from the short corner. At the other end Strathclyde missed from a short corner. A good break from Ferg Wilson down the left saw him run from inside his own 25, beat two defenders and get in a shot which was well saved.
Half Time 1-1
With the strong breeze in their favour Harris started the second half on the attack. Albert went along the left baseline and passed to Ferg whose initial shot was saved but from the resulting goalmouth scramble Harris won a short corner. Shortly after this Ferg had a reverse stick shot well saved. Harris went ahead six minutes into the second half when Albert netted his second from a short corner. With their first attack after this goal Strathclyde won a short corner and scored to get back on level terms. Both teams then had chances from short corners before Starthclyde took the lead 22 minutes into the second half. With eight minutes left Craig Edward drove in from the right and his cross was met by Steven Moir who deflected it past the keeper for the equaliser. Three minutes later Ferg had a shot saved by the keeper and Sam Owen-Hughes following up had his shot stopped by a defender's foot on the line. Albert stepped up to take the penalty flick but the home keeper saved well. With two minutes to go Harris won a short corner and Albert's flick struck the post but Ferg following up controlled the rebound and sent his shot wide of the keeper for the winning goal.
