Match Report - 07 Feb 2015, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Indoor beat Kelburne 2

After finishing fifth out of 8 teams in the original indoor league division 2 Harris needed to win this play off game against Kelburne II who had finished 2nd in Division 3 in order to retain their place in Division 2 next season.
They couldn't have got off to a worse start with a long through ball in the first minute deflected past the Harris defence to provide a tap in for Kelburne. In the 3rd minute Harris were level when Gavin Martin won a short corner and Albert Rowling converted. Both teams then missed from short corners before Harris went ahead in the 6th minute from another Albert short corner. In the 9th minute Greg Whittet hit the bar with a powerful flick at goal but Jimi Simpson picked up the rebound and passed to Greg who netted from his second opportunity. When Kelburne attacked they were finding it difficult to get the ball past Ally Blair in the Harris goal who was blocking all attempts by the Kelburne forwards. At the other end of the pitch Harris missed a short corner in the 11th minute before another in the 14th minute, won by Ethan Drew, was converted by Albert to complete his hat-trick. A good move from Harris four minutes from half-time saw Ethan picking out Marc Callaghan with a good pass but Chico fired wide. The fifth goal came in the 18th minute when Gavin passed to Albert who set up Marc Callaghan for his first goal of the day.

Half time probably came too quickly for Harris. Kelburne won a short corner in the 21st minute and made it 5-2. In the 24th minute it was 5-3 and Kelburne's fourth goal in the 29th minute meant the last ten minutes were going to be keenly contested. There was no further scoring for the next seven minutes but Harris got the vital goal in the 36th minute when Greg had his shot at goal saved and Chico netted the rebound. With two minutes to go Kelburne now had their keeper off and when Harris won a short corner Albert scored his fourth of the game.
