Match Report - 25 Oct 2015, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor lost to Watsonians
Harris made a great start when Greg Whittet won the ball in the 6th minute and ran from the halfway line into the Watsonians D. His cross from the right was deflected into the goal by a Watsonians defender to put Harris ahead. This lead only lasted two minutes before Watsonians equalised with a well worked goal from open play. A short corner in the 19th minute put Watsonians ahead. The original corner award led to a shot which looked like it was going wide and hit a Harris player's head. A penalty was initially awarded then changed to a short corner and this time it was converted to put Watsonians ahead. Another corner three minutes later, this time awarded after the ball had hit a Watsonians foot put the home side 3-1 ahead. In the 27th minute a long through ball was deflected at the Harris goal and Grant McInroy made a great reaction save only for the rebound to be well picked up by Watsonians and hit first time past him. Harris came close to pulling a goal back when Jack Dyer collected the ball wide left, beat his marker and then had his shot at goal well saved.
Half Time Watsonians 4 - 1 Harris
Harris seemed to have pulled back a goal two minutes into the second half. A Ferg Wilson shot was saved and Jonnie McLeish picked up the rebound and saw his shot saved again by the keeper but the ball deflected off the keeper to Jack Dyer who knocked it into the goal. However it was chalked off as the deflection was judged as dangerous and made by a Harris player. Harris however, did make it 4-2 in the 43rd minute. Euan Simpson played the ball to Finlay Wright who passed it down the right to Jack Dyer Jack beat a defender before passing to Albert Rowling and his reverse hit shot from the top of the D gave the Watsonians keeper no chance. Three minutes later Finlay Wright played the ball to Steven Moir to give him and Greg a 2 v 1 opportunity but the danger was cleared. In the 51st minute a long through ball from Gavin Martin set Greg Whittet free and after rounding the last defender his shot was well blocked by the keeper. Two minutes later Jack Dyer provided Albert with a chance to shoot but his angled shot hit the side net. Watsonians then sealed the match with a fifth goal. Harris came close before the end when a Pete Black cross was deflected over the bar by Greg Whittet.
