Match Report - 02 Apr 2016, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor lost to Stepps
Harris were first to threaten and a good save from the Stepps keeper kept out a short corner attempt from Albert Rowling. With Stepps playing half court Harris had a lot of possession but did not manage to turn this into shots at goal. The deadlock was broken in the 30th minute when Pete Black crossed into the D and Jonnie McLeish played the ball to Albert Rowling who put Harris ahead. A good saving tackle from Finlay Wright shortly after kept out Stepps as they responded to the Harris goal. However, an intercepted pass left Stepps with a 2 v 1 three minutes before half-time and they took advantage of this to get an equaliser. At the other end there was still time for another good save from the Stepps keeper to keep out Albert Rowling.
In the first minute of the second half Stepps took the lead. Harris responded with Greg Whittet beating three defenders and then hitting wide of goal. Harris continued to press for an equaliser but three short corners between the 45th and 55th minutes failed to produce a goal. A yellow card for Harris in the 55th minute didn't prevent Harris from continuing to attack but left them more open to counter attacks. Albert Rowling seemed unlucky as he ended up on the ground when trying to break free of the last Stepps defender. Stepps took a decisive two goal lead with seven minutes left to play. Greg Whittet cut the deficit to one with three minutes to go but Stepps quickly responded to make it 4-2.
