Match Report - 09 Mar 2019, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor lost to ESM
Three late call-offs resulted in Harris coach Roy Dowie stepping in to help out in defence. ESM made the better start and took the lead after 14 minutes. Despite the enforced late changes Harris kept in the game and equalised in the 26th minute. Ross McNicoll played the ball to Fraser Allan who was fouled as he moved into the D to shoot and Fraser converted the penalty.
Half-Time Harris 1 ESM 1
Harris made a great start to the 2nd half when Fraser Allan dribbled through the middle of the ESM defence and flicked on to Ferg Wilson who flicked it past the keeper. In the 47th minute Grant McInroy won a short corner and Gav Martin hit the ball into the corner of the goal to give Harris a 3-1 lead.
ESM responded in the last quarter of the match and three goal in six minutes gave them a 4-3 lead. However Harris fought back and from another short corner Gav Martin's goalbound shot was blocked by an ESM foot and Fraser Allan stepped up again to convert the penalty. ESM took the lead again in the 60th minute with a deflected goal to lead 5-4. In the 63rd minute it looked like the ball was running out for a 16 to Harris when a Harris player and an ESM collided resulting in what seemed a very soft penalty award to ESM and a yellow card for Harris. Unfortunately the exchange between umpire and player resulted in a 2nd yellow card leaving Harris a player down for the rest of the match. ESM converetd the penalty to make it 6-4 and another penalty award three minutes later made it 7-4. A short corner award for what seemed a legal tackle resulted in a further goal and a final score of 8-4. Unfortuntaely the red card proved costly and Harris never recovered from that point in the game as ESM made good use of their extra man.
