Match Report - 23 Mar 2019, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 1st Team Outdoor lost to Stirling University
In a fairly even start Stirling opened the scoring from the first short corner of the game. Ross saved the initial shot but the ball rebounded straight back to the top of the D and was collected and placed wide of Ross to open the scoring. Harris responded quickly with Gav Martin's shot saved and Alfie Ackerley picking up the rebound to equalise. A powerful run into the circle by Jay Smith in the 22nd minute led to him being brought down and a penalty awarded. Will Evans placed the ball past the home keeper to put Harris ahead 2-1. However a minute later a cross from the Stirling right was missed by two Harris defenders and the ball was hit into the goal at the far post for an equaliser. A short corner to Stirling two minutes later was well saved at the post by Ally Blair.
Half Time 2-2
Harris missed from a short corner at the start of the second half. In the 53rd minute Harris conceded a penalty and Stirling converted to go ahead. In the 58th minute Harris missed the chance to equalise from a short corner. The last ten minutes of the game belonged to Stirling with a goal from open play in the 63rd minute and a short corner goal just before the end. Despite suffering several call-offs the Harris team played well in lengthy spells particularly in the first half. Losing an early goal has been a common problem during the season and again the last quarter of the game saw them lose a couple of goals.
