Match Report - 01 Mar 2020, Harris Academy FP Hockey Club 3rd Team Outdoor beat Perthshire IV
Away to Perthshire IV Kilgraston. Atrocious, wet sleety and cold weather endured. Harris squad of 11 players (assisted by Jack T arriving for the second half). 4:4:2 formation for duration of game. We welcomed ‘Fieldy’ to GK duties, which gave us good game coaching / position guidance to our younger backs (Cameron G playing in the centre with Andy T, alongside Stephen O and Sean H). A strong 4, who communicated and defended extraordinarily well in the challenging weather conditions, showing immense work rate and perception. Midfield Rory L, Ross McN, Duncan McN and Dave S disrupted Perthshire ball and closed the space well. Matthew O and Mathew L, moved into space at the right time, were hungry for the ball, and held and distributed the ball well when attacking the D along the baseline. The defence and work rate from the whole team, meant there were very few, if any shots on goal from Perthshire, who found it difficult to break into the Harris D. Fieldy was called on rarely, and could recount only one shot on goal , which he easily repelled with a boot. The Harris goal came in the second half from a build up from the back, attacking down the right to the top of the opponents D, with a deflection to the left post from Dave S to Matthew O, who controlled the ball and swept it firmly into the goal past a beaten keeper. Matthew O had been explaining the ‘triangle of opportunity’ when in the D, in the car to the game, so textbook stuff in action! Well done team for the effort, commitment, work rate and positive support for one another. Thank you to Jack T for getting to the game after your Dad’s car had a puncture, and for coming on to give us some extra energy towards the end of the game. Thanks to Keith Dyer for umpiring duties and for enduring! Well done squad! A 1:0 Away win.
